I have started collecting different
Piano samples from VST Instruments as well as synths. I am starting
with some of my collections and will add more soon. I am not a great
pianist but this page is not about performance as much as sample
quality and to give users an idea of some of the great piano samples
available. If you submit me a midi file of piano only I may use it to
generate more demos to critique the samples using a variety of velocity
and other midi control information.
All demos presented below use no additional effects or EQ other than
what is in the preset program provided by the vendor. No additional
proceessing was done and all recordings were done in Sonar 5 or Sonar 6
and saved as an 192K MP3 for your listening. Others who rendered for me
may be using a different sequencer software. If you have any questions
about a particular sampleset or setup just write us.
Demo1
- is an original composition that was performed on Ivory and then the
midi file used on all other versions with no edits.
Demo2
- is an arrangement of the hymn by Andoiram Gordon called My
Jesus, I Love Thee. It was recorded origianlly on Ivory using the stock
patch German Concert D 10.
Demo3
- is an excerpt of The Solid Rock Hymn. The purpose of this
demo
is simply to place the piano in a mix. It was recorded using the NI
Akoustik Piano Bechstein D 280. I find that this piano works with Pop
or Rock but not very well with slow intimate arrangements for my play.
If you are interested in the instruments used here you go - drums are
Moon Drums (played by Phil Brannan great job) - bass is Trilogy -
strings and horns are IK Multimedia Philharmonik. This is for reference
only how many mix version demos that will be done will probably be few
but I may add one for different pianos from time to time.
Thanks
PlayIvorys
Demo4
- is simple piano performed on William Coakley's Perfect Piano D359C
originally. It concentrates in the mid section on the piano mostly.
It is a variation of the hymn It is well with my soul feel
free
to compare the pianos.
Demo5
- is some worhsip piano performed on Ivory Bosendorfer originally. It
plays some warm parts in the mid-lower register some compare. I
especially like the warm and smooth transitions shown on the Coakley
359C. Feel free to comment and compare.
Demo6
- is the hymn I am thine O Lord performed on the Coakley FantomXR Hamburg D107 Piano. This
demo really shows the soft play of the piano. Listen closely to how the some pianos back away when going from loud to soft.
The controller used to record this was an Yamaha Motif ES X8.
Feel free to comment and compare.
Demo7
- is the short arrangement of Vince Guaraldi's Christmas Time is Here performed on the TruePiano Sapphire Piano. This
demo has a small track drums in the background which may help show the piano in a mix a little. Listen closely to the new module and feel free to comment in the forums.
More rendering with other pianos very soon.
For your convenience we have placed all the demos within the player below, simply expand the
